Martine Franck dies.

I'm not sure where to post this.

Martine Franck was the wife of Henri Cartier-Bresson, and a fine photographer in her own right. How many of us have heard of her? I must admit I hadn't until my wife Flora posted this link to me

Martine Franck dies: The photographer was more than Henri Cartier-Bresson’s wife. - Slate Magazine

The pictures show her work to be worthy of admiration.

She does great work, she was part of the magnum group founded by HCB (and others) and you need to be top notch to get in that group (Robert Capa, Eve Arnold, HCB, Hiroji Kubota and many more . Some fantastic people have been with Magnum)

Magnum Photos Photographers

TODAY would be HCB's 104th birthday BTW

happy birthday HCB (from the magnium site)

Thanks for the link. I am more informed after this. Nice images.
And like Eddie1960 mentioned, the Magnum group had some fabulous photographers. Images that I admire and learn from. Strong stuff.

You are so right, Eddie. You have a good eye for it. Good work from the Magnum group. A lot to see and learn from. Not to hijack this thread but I particularly like Sebastiao Salgado's eye.
Masters of Photography: Sebastiao Salgado

I don't have an option for street photographer right now, (maybe when we move to Canada because of the crazy politics here) but I certainly appreciate it.

Jools I wish I had half your talent. Street shooting in your area may be more difficult but i imagine those magnum guys would be in the midst of things. I always find crazy situations easier to shoot in myself.

Thanks Eddie. Yeah, the environment should not be a deterrant for good images. BTW, I may be living in a Toronto neighborhood sooner than what one thinks. Fear the right.

Cool, another pentaxian is always welcome up here (we have our own right wing windbags though - our current mayor is a gasbag fool - fortunately council has shut him down most times)
let me know if you are moving up or need info
