Just before flying home this morning from NYC, I made my first visit to B&H Photo. My excitement was heightened by the sight of a hundred or more shoppers waiting outside for the doors to open at 10AM. It was more than I hoped for. Once inside, before me was every photo product I've only seen in magazines and more.
In the DSLR sections, the Canon and Nikon kiosks were 2-3 deep and bustling. The Sony and Panasonic stations showed good action. Alas, I was the only person examining the Pentax products. I actually got to hold a K30 and K-01 (no K5 in sight). I love my K7 and my earlier K100DS, but I was saddened by my brands lack of attention. It made me hope all my investments in Pentax and K-mount lenses wouldn't be for naught if the worse were to eventually happen - that Pentax might someday cease to exist.
On a happier note, I was amazed with the operation of B&H. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a check-out system that is the most efficient method I have ever witnessed in my life. I showed my wife more than a few possible Xmas suggestions for me, and left with a new B&H basecap cap to wear - Pentax doesn't sell their caps anymore.
