Mission successful. max speed was around 770mph, i think. i didn't know going up to the stratosphere already makes earth look so... from-space-y.

Followed the live stream on youtube... it was amazing.
When they ran through the checklist, and then the jump and following him until touchdown back on earth It was really amazing.

+1 wish he would of broken the free fall record..

In going for the free fall record and reaching the speeds he did, He would have had to go even higher. I don't think the free fall record was his goal. From that height, he could have done it but he wanted to break the sound barrier to prove it could be done.

I did like his comment in the press conference about the single finger salute to the pundits who said he would explode if he reached the speed of sound.

What is even more impressive is that the old record (of I think 102,000 ft) had stood 52 years... back then it was more of a "let's try it and see what happens" approach to these things too.
