Originally posted by glennbp I'm a dyed in the wool Democrat, but I would like to go on record as saying that in a year or two, nearly everyone in this country is going to wish they voted for Romney. I agree his personality leaves something to be desired, but IMHO, the presidency is not a popularity contest nor should it be. Romney with all his faults remains a brilliant business man which this nation desperately needed. I fear we made a tragic error in re-electing Obama. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
He is no Rockefeller"...I'll stop there....
As to "wishing" for Romney.. let's just say, from my point of view" they are both in error...No I will not ever wish Romney won regardless of the outcome here...It would have been worse AFAIKT...
BOTH are embracing the idea of cutting "entitlements".. Both are wrong.
One wants to raise taxes on upper incomes.. one wants to cut them.. a wash since tax raises (and conversely cuts) on the wealthy is ineffective for anything...pro or con.
One wants less defense spending one more (w/ a diversion of "income" to fund it).. neither is a good idea per se.. IF you cut military spending and paste it onto more stimulative spending it could be a win but see BOTH above.
UNFORTUNATELY if Obama fails (and Congress, let us not FORGET about Congress.. please.....)
it will 'look bad" w/ no basis to believe the other side would have been "better"..........
