I will take this opportunity to remind you of Y2K.

Which was silly anyway because the new millennium didn't start until 2001.

Good grief, in this age of electronic devices, are they still around? I threw my planners away when I got my first Palm Pilot, about 100 years ago.

This is so so ridiculous. The mayan's didn't see their own downfall, yet they are somehow supposed to have predicted the end of the world because their calendar ran down.
It is ridiculous, for sure.

Well there was quite a bit of consternation with that whole Y2K thing, wasn't there?

My point was I was surprised Franklin was still around.

It suppose to end the 21st of Dec and I just read this. It makes you wonder.....

SEOUL, South Korea North Korea announced Saturday that it would attempt to launch a long-range rocket in mid-December, a defiant move just eight months after a failed April bid was widely condemned as a violation of a U.N. ban against developing its nuclear and missile programs.

The launch, set for Dec. 10 to 22, is likely to heighten already strained tensions with Washington and Seoul as the United States prepares for Barack Obama's second term as U.S. president and South Korea holds its own presidential election on Dec. 19.
This is just the North Koreans' special way of telling the rest of the world how much they love us.

Or, maybe, making sure they get what they want for Xmas!

NASA Bombarded With Doomsday Questions | BobCesca.com | Liberal Politics Blog and Podcast

QuoteQuote:
So, NASA started a website called, Ask an Astrobiologist, and since then, the website reports they are now devoted to tearing their hair out in a maddening decline toward dementia nearly full-time:

QuoteQuote:
Ask an Astrobiologist has received more than 5000 questions about Nibiru and Doomsday 2012, with more than 400 answers posted.
Questions like: “How do we know that the government and NASA are not covering up for the end of the world?” and, “is it true that on December 21 2012 that there will be a shift in the earth due to the sun and moon lining up?”

Turns out, these questions actually have answers!
QuoteQuote:
Who knows how long it will take to drive NASA to weep openly in public for the future of intelligent life in the universe? but, Senior Scientist Of The NASA Astrobiology Institute, David Morrison, is fending off the 2012 Doomsday Zombie horde like a courageous pocket protector warrior with his back to the wall and the future of humanity at stake. After thousands of questions, he may be showing signs of cracking, seemingly trembling with uncontrollable frustration over the fact that there are so many people who believe this crap.

Wonder what a Mayan colander looks like (ok now I'm completely confused and have forgotten how calendar is spelt, not that it matters as the world ends in a few days anyway).
