If You Had to Choose...

African safari or the Galapogos Islands? The chance to be next to non-threatienng wild creatures trumps being in danger all the time.

I'm biased to the Galapogos, but I love water and as a professional diver, going to the savanna is dull compared to the water. Much less life threatening things on the islands too

Galapagos I think. But it looks like there are lots of restrictions on tourists, and I hate an organised tour. I would try and get on some conservation volunteer scheme. Africa would seem to offer more opportunities for adventure and excitement.

Galapagos, but on one of the smaller boats.

I'd probably join a Thom Hogan tour:

Africa, but *only* if you combine it with a hike to summit Kilimanjaro.

That's the plan in three years when my sister graduates highschool - going to be her graduation present

Trying very hard not to go political on this one, but...

Why not try to reach out to an organization such as the Peace Corps or some other volunteer group. They might be able to give someone traveling to exotic locals a bit more access.

I'd say Galapagos Islands. Have done a simple safari almost three years ago in Tunisia. But an African safari in Kenya or Tanzania is completely different then Tunisia. And a bit too hard for me due to circumstances.

It seems as if you've already made a decision .....

If you need "safe" it might be better to stay home, where you more or less know the dangers. But hey, I stay in Africa, I get to pet a cheetah, and take the chance of getting killed doing it... Life is like a nickerball...

There's a breed of Finch that likes blood so much that it will land on you and start pecking.

I get what you're looking for, just kidding a bit. I would also try to go to a safe place if I ever get a chance to go on a trip, and there are definitely some places in the world that I would not visit, but to exclude a whole continent is a bit harsh. There are some beautiful and relatively safe places in Africa, you just have to do some homework
