It would be a lucrative project for a handyman. How many times is a printer of a shredder junked because a 2 cent gear can not be sourced? You could simply print a new gear in a few minutes.
Until the 2 cent geat in your 3D printer goes bad.

Have a look at the current issue of Scientific American. A brief article seems to state that a human liver has been successfully printed! While an unscarred portion of a liver can regenerate if one fourth or more of its original size, or so the magazine says, would this mean that with merely a few cells to culture one could have a new organ to replace one pretty much shot? Wowzer!

I would assume that one would have a few geats printed in advanced, like having an extra battery or SD card for the camera, just in case

Heehee. I was just thinking how hard it is to get 2d scanners and printers to stay working. Sorry bout the typing, neck and shoulders are all out of whack.

6-meter tall KamerMaker to 3D print Amsterdam house by year's end

It is surely now but a matter of time before we are reporting on the completion of the first 3D-printed house, or at least something purported to be such a thing. Amsterdam-based DUS Architects is the latest company to show its hand, and has developed its own 3D printer, the 6-meter (20-foot) tall KamerMaker (literally, RoomMaker), with the intention of 3D printing a house before the end of the year.

Do they print the plumbing and ventilation also?

Just fabulous! I especially liked the passerby who saw the Necker cube.

Funny story, a friend of mine, with a BFA in studio art, passed up a signed Escher lithograph for about $25. in NYC many years ago. He'd never heard of Escher, and he was crestfallen when I showed him an Abrams book with the litho he'd passed up.

Kinda goes with my being unable to afford $25. for a signed print of "Moonrise..." by Adams when I was a college student. Or a huge print by Clyde Butcher for $250. Arrgh!

And so it goes....
