Hi,
I don't post as much as I sould, but I just couldn't let this contest pass by without trying my chance. I see there are many great designs already posted. Here are mine:
The idea with the eye was to express the unique vision a "photographer" has of the world, even more when is a "Pentaxian photographer". The design is off centered so the red dot is on the left side, right above the Heart
The iris of the eye has nine diaphragm blades like the Limited lenses for better bokeh
I wish it was possible to use gradients and more color but as the rules stated only two colors...



The second idea is about the same but with a more realistic eye.

Regarding the use of Pentax logo.

The new Pentax logotype is "PENTAX A Ricoh Company".

When using PENTAX word in designs, if the style and shape of the letters is an issue (the permission to use it in chosen design COULD be obtained from the company, it's the matter of asking them in written form), then designs that use it may simply use alternate typeface, like Univers Bold. Close enough — different enough.

The use of the exact PENTAX style typeface, at this stage of design evaluation, should not be an issue for us to see whether the design is good or not. In the final stage, though, winning design can simply substitute the typeface.

All creations thus far are informal, made to illustrate / communicate the idea. Using the original Pentax logo was easier than searching and matching suitable alternate typefaces. However, final tweaking of a chosen design is always done last, and all cautions then apply.
