Citizen Chronograph Automatic 8110 from 1972 with dark grey face
My daily beater - Japanese domestic model so can be set to show kanji for days of the week. This is a cheap nylon/silicon strap as anything else rots where I live and authentic citizen bands no longer available from supplier. Needs a CLA and a new bezel but still works reliably. The external tachymeter ring is currently frozen but flyback still works.

These are all very nice watches, and photos of them.

I have not carried a watch since the band on my mighty Timex broke and I just carried it in my pocket. Problem was the the buttons kept getting pressed, so I ended up always having to reset it :-( I finally realized I did not need one, anyway.

There is a very interesting short story in "The Best Short Stories of J.G. Ballard" entitled "Chronopolis" wherein a chronographile in a clockless society gets his wish.

Cheers!

According to some 'experts', watches are being replaced by cell phones. That may be true for the new generation, but I'll most likely be buried wearing one. I just hope it's not a self winder.

After 5 weeks in the hospital - over Christmas and New Years, I have trouble wearing a watch and can't seem to get back into wearing one.

The Citizen is solar powered and updates every night via radio to the atomic clock and is accurate to the second. I never have to adjust it for any reason including daylight savings time.
So how does the atomic watch deal with travel across tome zone? How about when in areas that do not observe daylight savings time?

There is a setting on atom watches to have it correct for DST. Since all states do not have it you must manually tell it.

I think the watch corrects for different time zones and countries but I have not confirmed it yet.
I just confirmed it. Most likely you have to put in a home city location.
