If you want to know the time, look at your phone. Watches are more of a fashion statement these days, or a collectors item. You wear one because you like the way it looks. That goes especially to those automatic watches, cause they aren't that good at telling the time.
I would wholehearted agree with you - except that I don't use my phone much at all and need to ensure it's charged & ON before I can see the time, so a simplish watch suits me better, and so I "90% wholeheartedly" agree with you .

Haha, my problem is that I use my phone so much the battery tends to be flat... So I carry a powerbank with me...

I expect it is nearly as big as some of "those" watches!

5" screen, but like 8 mm thick? Plus case maybe 10 mm. I don't like big watches.

My other hobby is watch collecting. Nothing too extravagant but I do rather like this one - Sinn 757UTC Tegimented. What watch(es) do you have?

My watch is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Air King Date. My wife gave it to me, as her engagement gift, about 34 years ago. I've had it cleaned once and the crystal replaced (my fault) and it has been as reliable as the old saying goes...'as a Swiss watch'.

I treasure it because it was a wonderful gift from my very wonderful wife.

When I can find my phone.

I wear a Pebble watch (I got for free) so I know when someone has called me or sent me a message. Then I go looking for my mobile which I rarely use (a $30 pre-paid lasts me 6 months or more).

Occasionally, I'll wear my Seiko orange solar-charged watch to keep it charged.

I had an Omega Speedmaster I bought new back in about 1973 as shown in the last image above but, after a while, I never wore it as I kept forgetting to wind it up - so I sold it for $400. I was probably ripped off.

I do have an Omega gold watch I was given by my employer for 30 years service back in 1996. I've never worn it but my wife has. It needs a new battery. Is it a DeVille Jubilee? It does look like this one: https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/de-ville/jubilee/79102301/

Can anyone identify it. The warranty card has a ref. 7910.23.0n (the last digit is indecipherable).

Back when I got it, the valuation for insurance was about A$3,500

This fob watch was given to my wife about 50+ years ago when she worked for a jeweller whilst still at school. It was a trade-in and the jeweller didn't want it.
