Question about the Red X and Green checkmark next to profile name

Hi I am new to the forum and while kinda getting a feel for the forum and checking it out. I have a question. What does the green checkmark or a red X by a users profile name mean?

Does the Red X suggest "serial killer avoid at all cost" and the green check mean the individual is safe?

Just curious.

if you hover your mouse over the X or Check mark... wait for a small box to pop up...

(but if you are lazy, the checkmark means that user is currently online, and an X means he/she is offline)

Woo Hoo, Good thing I asked. Was beginning to think a lot of serial killers were in the forum, Just kidding of course.
