My brother rang up the other day to tell me that he'd found my old spotmatic and a couple of lenses in an old trunk. I haven't used it in 20 years but he reckons everything looks hunky-doory. We'll be visiting them up the coast in a couple of weeks and I'll pick it up then. I'm pretty excited about this - already got a new battery!

Here it is around my neck in 1984 (on right):

My first Pentax was a point and shoot film. It was either a Espio 105 or a 115,
I can't remember which. It was a good little camera. My wife and I took it overseas in 1998/99 and we still have alot of shots we have taken with it. I sold it when I bought my first Digital Camera...a Kodak..I know, it was a piece of rubbish too, ok at the time though.

Used digital before film, an Olympus C-3000 Zoom, then used the K1000, now mainly a K100D.

My first Pentax was the 67 Medium Format model. Bought it in the early 90s and meanwhile sold it. Other than that I didn't have a Pentax until I got into DSLRs. I used to have all Nikon 35mm gear.

Another MX

MX, Christmas '78 with M50/1.7, M28/3.5 and M135/3.5. Still have 'em all and the body is still mint. I enjoyed that camera more than any other I've owned over the years, including a couple of LX's - which I also still have.

My first Pentax was (still is) a Spotmatic that I bought in an Air Force PX in Germany in 1968. Bought it because Nikons were too big and too heavy. Used it until the early 80's when I got a Super Program. Actually got the SP because the viewfinder on the Spotmatic was getting tough to use in low light. The Spotmatic was tough as nails; may not use the body anymore, but still use the lenses.

My first Pentax was a borrowed Spotmatic that I used in 1967.
I bought a Petri FT in Vietnam in '68 and used it for years.
I replaced it with a K1000 and then purchased an MX to go with it. Somewhere along the way I picked up an ME Super. I usually carried two cameras, one loaded with Plus-X or Tri-X and the other with color print or slide film.

Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP

Well, I finally got my first Pentax back - my brother had found it in an old trunk. I used this camera for 20 years and it still feels as good as ever.

And still shoots OK too:

My first is an ME Super SE that I bought last November. Since then I have acquired a KX with a bad meter (but otherwise functional) and a K100D.

I also have a black Nikon F SLR with the Photomic FTn finder, and I'm still waiting for my Yashica Electro 35 GSN rangefinder I bought on eBay to arrive. My wife hates my obsession. But, she loves the B&W pictures my ME Super took of our daughter last week, so she puts up with it.

I bought it from my brother in 1987, which he had bought way back in 1978 for his studies...
Sadly, it died on me last year: the shutterspeed is not accurate anymore, it has sticky mirror, fram counter is stuck. Went to Pentax Breda, and they said to me it couldn't be fixed anymore due to non availability of sppare parts...

I do agree, the MX was the camera I first had, and it's still the most fun in handling. Excellent camera, if you ask me... (sadly mine died on me - see above.)

K1000 followed by a ZX5n followed by *istDs followed by the K10D. I still own them all except the *istDs which was stolen in December which is why I bought the K10D. I stayed with Pentax because of how intuitive each camera has been for me to use!
