I got banned a long while back, and I don't miss the racist crap one bit. Sadly, trying to get the small jingoistic American rabble to shut up proved impossible and the mod's at the time took the easy option and banned me and a couple of other Brit's. I like Americans, I've spent a lot of time over there and have many friends across the USA, so I know it was just a few idiots.

It's funny how the ban-hammer doesn't do anything to improve the tone on that forum. Things tend to be much more pleasant here.
That isn't my experience.
People are very friendly over there too.
The tone in some of the other makes forums there is a little more fraught

I think you were actually banned for faking ownership of multiple lenses. You claimed to own a bunch of glass you clearly didn't, multiple members called you out (because they know you own MAYBE 5 lenses) and the admin took ya out of the equation. I've seen you troll posts in order to push lenses that you like and try to insult photography with lenses that you don't. You tend to lie about what you own so you can claim that your opinions about how bad "X" product is, are valid. Personally, I think the admins did an excellent job watching your song and dance and taking care of ya.
To whom does this post refer? It isn't clear as it has been posted well into the thread and after several have stated they have been banned.

Long ago I was banned for a fortnight on a 4WD forum for going off-topic. I didn't know until after it was over as I was away in the Australian Outback with no Internet access. I've never bothered going back to that forum.

You've been around a while. I'm sure you remember one (or 2) like that here during the P&R days, don't you?
Reminders like this of the old P&R days make me proud I was always a gentleman there! I always did what Otis advised, and I'm sure it was part of the reason I was so well like by all?

Regards!

Redaction is a wonderful thing! If you don't like the truth, just change it and move on! I learned that from Otis too!

AHA! I KNEW there was a word for it . . .

Now if only I could use it in a sentence without offending anyone . . .

"The word "jingoistic" is offensive to all jingos".

I tried to like DPR. I really did. But I quickly discovered that they were very aggressive about brands & seemingly, Canikon only need apply. At the time, Canikons in my budget were pretty feature poor. DPR's solution was to tell me to increase my budget.

Then, I found Steve's! Amazing people there. I wasn't even looking at Pentax when I asked the ubiquitous "which camera?" question. IIRC, I was looking at Sony & Olympus. Describing what I wanted to do & what I needed & my budget, they steered me towards my K-x, which I bought sight unseen. I love my camera. Sure, I have to rent fast glass when I really, really need it. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford better lenses, but I do enjoy the ones I have. And I'm just now buying non-kit lenses to play with.

I guess I'm part of that "International Flavour", though I've never been called that before.
