Is your monitor good enough for this forum?

I found this resource which may be quite useful for a quick and dirty monitor test:

Monitor Calibration: Is Your Monitor Calibrated?

My monitor isn't too bad (NEC LCD195WVXM), but the third test with the b&W horizontal lines inside the grey area fails miserably. No way in blazes can I get it to work. I'm using a little utility called PowerStrip and it's pretty good especially for multi-monitor setups.

I just took their little test and I have a very good monitor. Of course I would have been very upset to find different. I calibrate the monitor when I got it with a Spyder II.

I really should hire a Spyder or something similar to calibrate this damn thing.

Being on a DVI-to-D-Sub adapter, the colour shifts cooler if I bump my desk.

Which doesn't matter as much as you might think, as Photoshop seems to absolutely kill any colour coming from a K100D RAW.

My monitor showed all of the colour distinctions, but the gamma is a bit off. Not too surprising as I'm running a fairly high end Phillips with the gamma boosted to help with target acquisition in video games. I can actually adjust the monitor's colour temperature in one of its menus to help with photo work if I want to, but I've never bothered to try it.

I am very concerned that my monitors are all showing the wrong colours....

I run a three monitor setup. 24" flanked by two 19"

The issue i have is that the two 19s are made by one company and the 24 is by another.... so nothing is really BANG ON.

I have been looking at the Huey Pro setup that actually supports multi-monitor and seems to be reasonably priced.

I saw the spyder setup at my local Henrys but the price tag was a bit on the high side.

Anyone have any experience with the Huey?

I have 4 17" NECs at work, and they are all crap, but I dont work in a graphics type job so no one cares. At home I have two Dell 2007WFPs and I calibrate them continuously.

I am using a second hand 17" Compaq 7500 monitor that I picked up from the garbage area at work and about 2 months ago I did a rough calibration by using some online resources.

To my surprise this monitor is about spot on according to the link supplied

cheers
Keith
