I remember Honeywell Pentax as well, but my first camera was an Asahi Pentax (SP-500) purchased overseas (father in military) during the period Honeywell imported Pentax cameras into the USA. I used that SP-500 for well over ten years (adding a compact Auto 110 system at some point), but then switched to the Super Program in the early 80's (with a Chinon backup). I switched to a Canon camera after gaining employment (in Germany) with the company during the late 80's, but eventually switched to Minolta after leaving Canon several years later. The switch to Minolta was driven by their consistently lower accessory prices, a fact most consumers must have missed. Finally, after Minolta's collapse followed by the release of the K10D, I switched back to Pentax early last year.

Rest assured: you only are as old as you feel... (which put's me somewhere around 85 - was a hell of a working day, today. )

should have kept the increments at 5 instead of 10, would have made for a more interesting graph

esp between 20-35 area.

Actually, I tried for that (groups of five) with a poll created just before this one. However, since one must add a poll within five minutes of starting a thread, it timed out on me before I could enter and review all the poll options. On the second attempt (a friendly moderator deleted the first thread), I decided to limit the options to allow plenty of time to enter the age data and check accuracy. Hence, groups of ten.

I bought the Fujica ST-801 because it was the first "match needle" TTL metering camera that did away with the needle - it used LED's in the viewfinder to tell you when the exposure was correct - it even has a dial in the viewfinder that tells you what your shutter speed is. (I still have it and it still works - if only I could get that EBC glass on my K10D)
My dad's cam from '77 was a 601 or 801. It's really dusty and needs a cleaning, and the battery needs changing. It should still work though...last time it was used was '98 I think.

You can use the screwmount lenses with the M42 adapter. Only thing is...the little aperture pin doesn't allow the lens to screw on all the way. And every time you want to adjust the aperture, you have to unscrew it a little. Oh, and all the numbers will be on the bottom. But, I can confirm that they work with EOS -> M42 adapters with the stopdown flange, and can be made to work on the K10 if the aperture pin is taped/epoxied/JB Welded in...

fun poll. I'm 31, if I had been a little more patient I could've been born on July 4th... but that didn't happen, had to settle for the 1st.

What Is Your Analysis Of Poll Results So Far?

Well, it's been over twenty-four hours since this poll started (and over 100 votes), so perhaps it's time for some initial comments. While I don't think there are any huge surprises in the under 59 age groups, the sharp dropoff above 60 is interesting. Anyone care to speculate on the reason?

We (wife and I) talked about it and came up with a couple of ideas. The first focused on this group (the over 60, especially over 70, age group) being well into middle age by the time computers caught on, so perhaps less interested in computers overall (this computer forum and computer images). In other words, this group may be quite comfortable with a life without digital. The second had to do with physical limitations perhaps suppressing this group's ability to get around in the hunt for images and this group's ability to tote a lot of heavy camera equipment.

I'd rather hear your ideas, so will stop with that. During any discussion, I hope others will continue to add their data to the poll as well.
