Dollar for dollar, the Corvette remains the best buy in the high performance market.

The best thing about the Corvette is that they depreciate like a meteor falling to Earth. So if you really want one it's possible to find one that is affordable.

I want a Lotus actually. I find it impossible that an 85 car still fetches $30k. It's not like it is a super-car.

Back to Earth now. If any of you have a turbo diesel car, especially a VW, I can highly recommend a re-map.

I got the economy re-map on my 2003 Passat TDI 130 (only 38k miles on it mind) and between east London and Bristol got an average 75 mpg. Driving like Miss Daisy mind, chasing the fuel-o'meter thing.

The low end torque is great now.

You can get go fast re-maps too.

Not sure how smart it was driving only with his knuckles (left hand holding the nitrous button) when he up-shifted.

Early adopter

A relative I never got to meet hit something at speed in an early 'Vette.
I hear it was a closed casket funeral.

Wow, did not know they could hit 300+ km/h back then. Must have been pretty hairy at that speed.

I thought that was odd as well.

The company has spent who knows how much on engine work and camera gear, and road blocking to do this....

Then don't spend the 5 minutes and $5 it would have taken to mount the button onto the wheel, or the shifter.

I'm in the midst of refurbishing the CRX I bought new in 87. I love that car but it has no safety equipment.

In the States maybe. Anywhere else they are bloody dear or impossible to get.

Ex finn...It was owned by local VW dealer who raced and it was tweaked to hell,I was only 20 and had more guts than brains although it did have excellent harness restraints.I also owned Corvette in 80's and when weather was at -30C body was as brittle as you know what and did not risk driving it in case of minor collision.
