Gear Stolen in BC

A heads up for anyone in the lower mainland/Vancouver area, most of my gear was stolen sometime today.
Items include a DA* 60-250(serial no. 9230740), DA 10-17 (serial no. 4226204), F 50 1.7 on an old manual Pentax KX, HD DA 1.4x TC (serial no. 4283760), early 2011 13" MacBook Pro (serial no. C02FR2Y4DH2G). Unfortunately, they took the box with all the serial numbers too

That sucks big time. Hope you have insurance, or better yet, the police catch them some how.

Maybe call all the Kerrisdale Camera stores and give them a heads up?

Also keep an eye on craiglist and kijiji. I've seen enough stories (here and elsewhere) of folks finding their own gear being advertised - especially if it has any unique scratches or other blemishes that make it easy to ID.

This sucks!

I'll keep my eye out on the local Craigslist listings.

I'll take a look through the pawn shops in Nanaimo over the next couple of days just in case they venture to the Island. And call the Police. Check all the local departments. As a side note, the following was posted on a local facebook photo resource page, so look for local facebook sites like that to get the word out on too.
Note that this was from June 8th so unless you did not miss your gear for some time it is not yours.....
"Nanaimo RCMP are looking for the owner of a black back pack camera bag full of high end lenses. No camera body. Just lenses.
Found at Pipers Lagoon Park today.
Could the owner or anyone who knows who this equipment belongs to please call Cst. Sue Phillips at Nanaimo RCMP detachment 250-754-xxxx.
Or text Cst. Phillips at 250-713-xxxx. If you can prove it's yours she can have it released."

I'd check E-bay as well. Bit cross with them at the moment, my friends house was burgled and they took her aunts watch and put it on E-bay which was irreplaceable, We contacted E-Bay who wouldn't do anything about it so we got the police involved. They say they don't sell people's bodies parts on there but after this it wouldn't surprise me if they did. I'm convinced E-Bay is ran by crooks but never mind.

Sorry to hear Kameko. I'll keep a look out as well. Can I ask whereabouts you were when you stuff was taken? Do you know the pawn shops in the area? They might not help directly but the police could help in this case?

Unfortunately we didn't have insurance. We figured our larger pit bull x was a decent enough alarm system. Since having to put him down (and me acquiring more gear), we were going to get insurance this month.

We live in Surrey, Panorama Ridge area.

The RCMP have been to our place twice, they have descriptions and serial numbers of everything. We checked a few pawn shops in the area yesterday, will continue to look.

A few descriptive notes about what was taken. The 10-17 had a small dent in the lower part of the lens hood, the KX had the F 50 1.7 on it so it'll look oddly mismatched, the Macbook Pro has upgraded RAM to 16GB.

I've added the serial numbers to PF's database and registered my gear on Lenstag, as well as contacted a few camera shops out here that buy/sell used gear.

If anyone can donate, we would really appreciate it. At the suggestion of a friend, I set up this: Robbed and Trying to Rebuild by Meko Walker - GoFundMe

There's a stolen camera finder website or Chrome app, I forget which, that can search online photo forums' image exif for files taken with specific cameras (the SN has to be in the exif.) You might also be able to set up a Google alert for your SNs in the event that they're listed on eBay or Craig's List.
