Here's a snipe attempt that probably cost the other bidder the item. $20.01 would have won it for them...

Another too little too late bid. It would have been tough to outbid me on this one, I actually knew what the lens and the adapter it included were worth. (Tamron SP 90mm F2.5 Macro (52BB) w/ Adaptall 2 P/KA adapter).

My max bid on this one was $120.99.

This was for a much lesser 90mm Macro. The Vivitar 90mm F2.8 made by Komine

I wasn't going above $70 no matter what, and so it really didn't matter that there were 2 snipe attempts in the last 5 seconds of the auction.

Nope, eBay auctions are biased in favor of the buyer. I used to work for an online auction site where the auctions would auto-extend. It is a dangerous thing, however due to the temptation for shill bidding*. A certain amount of that happens anyway, but if there is a lot of contention on an item and the auction auto-extends, a well-placed shill can really keep the heat on and drive the price to the absolute maximum.
