Weather, please be kind

My hubby and I left this morning for a trip to McAllen, TX to see my dad. We're planning on fishing at South Padre Island, among other things. I thought about taking just two lenses, but ended up taking the whole kit. Well, you never know... We've been looking forward to some nicer weather. McAllen is generally warmer that East Texas. So, I checked the forecast for McAllen and Padre Island... it's showing rain for the three days we plan to be there. Noooooo! Please, please, please be merciful.

I'm in Dallas, and my best friend from Florida just visited. She arrived - delayed by 10 hours because of all our ice - on Saturday. She flew out Wednesday after enduring cold rain every day and just missing that fantastic snow. She has visited twice now and never seen a blue sky.

I hope you don't have the same fate!

Oh, what a bummer! I live a couple of hours from you, so I know exactly what you're talking about.
Thanks. I'm trying to be positive. This is Texas after all - forecast could always change.

I wish you good luck...and weather. I hope you are not one of those suckers (like me) that bought an Otis Warranty on the weather. On the day he announced that Winter was over it was 82F...Valentines Day.
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/132-pentaxian-lounge/288708-big-news-otis.html

So.....my friend and his wife from So Dakota decided to escape the cold and come down here for a visit, and all they got in Texas was cold wind, rain, ice and snow this week. They left to go back to a warmer place in So Dakota on Thursday....and immediately the sun came out and our weather turned gorgeous again. It just isn't right!

Anyhow, I wish you good weather in McAllen...and if you were one of the suckers that bought an Otis Warranty, request a refund. I did. Otis says each refund request will be processed by a committee of his Army Squirrels that have been "Bureaucrat Trained"........so I am not holding my breath.

Regards & enjoy your trip!

Lol. That Otis sounds like a tricky fellow. Sorry your friends had to catch the bad stuff
And thank you! We're taking it easy and enjoying the drive now.

Looks promising, doesn't it? Btw, these weren't taken with a Pentax. iPhone at 70 mph.

I think you might get some rain there, but you won't get cold! Otis said he could clear away those clouds for a 50# bag of roasted peanuts and a case of Lone Star beer. You do what you want, but I will never trust Otis' weather promises again. I just got a certified letter from his "Refund Committee" that said my claim had been denied due to an "Act of God" that brought all that snow here....they said I need better glasses to read the small print in the warranty.

Best Regards & have fun down there, rain or shine!

Too bad Otis is kinda shady, or I'd say it was worth the price. The temperature is nice though.
Thanks!

If he was only "kinda shady" it might be worth a chance......but from what I have seen over the years, the only winner in any of Otis' deals...is Otis!

Regards!

It rained all day yesterday, and was raining when we got up this morning. When we got to S Padre Island, about noon, the rain slowed, & eventually stopped. But I guess I can't complain. I hear they're getting flash flood warnings back home.

Sometimes the best saltwater fishing is during the rain.

I wanted to go so bad! My dad was a stick in the mud & said we weren't going to fish because of the rain. I would have done it, rain or not... But didn't argue.

It's still raining in La Grange and Giddings. Everything is soggy.
