So why do I see more and more postings begin with "so"? Isn't "so" a follow up from a statement, such as, I am hungry, so I will eat? So what statement does an initiating 'so' follow from? Some may say so what, which is a so so answer.

It's the FF infection, which has taken over the forum. No thread is immune from silly polls about what we'd pay for an item with no specifications given, or what the first lens we'd put on it. (Sorry if they are your threads).

So, really - that's it.

"Perceived." True, if in the course of a conversation where the the 'so' refers to the subject under discussion. That is not what I am noting here. The word is put in front of new posts as if one should know the subject under discussion and thus relieving them of the effort to introduce it. Hell, I failed two years at school and was set back twice, finishing high school when I turned 19, so I am not setting a very high standard. At the rate we are going we will soon just be grunting at each other.

I am with you on this. It drives me crazy. My wife listens to NPR and this is where I hear it a lot. I brought it up while being a captive audience listening to one of the programs and she told me that she does it also. I said "I know". I really need to learn how to cook now
