Lost my cell ("smart") phone !!! My life is ruined !!

NOT !!!

Actually, I did loose my "smart" phone today while on a hike through trails and some tall grass; went back later to try to locate it while dialing the number with my wife's cell phone .... no sound to be heard! Probably dead battery by then.

Called the mobile provider and suspended the cell service until I receive the new one.

BTW ... I did try this "cell locator" feature from the provider .... could not pinpoint it either ... again, probably a dead battery, so no signal to be sent/received.

Some lucky fox or bear or other such creature will likely take a sniff, decide it's not edible and crush it with one good jaw snap and then toss it away out of the way.

Those phones are as smart as the owner!

You might be able to borrow from friends, price for a new one starts at around $150 (Canadian Tire).

Check for clubs in your area, or place an ad in Craigslist.

No luck with the lost phone ... and no luck with trying to find a metal detector either.

I actually stopped searching today, so I will be receiving the new one tomorrow.

I will likely go back to the area where it was lost ... never know: it might just appear but that will also mean beaten with bad weather that is coming our way today!

Update ....

Well, the provider did provide!
New Samsung Galaxy S5 to replace the lost one.
Same deal ... no more no less.

PS: I had a backup on my PC for the cell phone .... just transferred everything over to the new device: works fine!

Sweet alright: great battery, splendid display, sleek and weather "resistant" (to some extent) ... etc.

However: glitch since the newly arrived Samsung Smart's are loaded with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) which causes a problem the way BT connection is handled.
When I had the S2, I could pair it to the car and it would automatically reconnect each time I got in the car.
Now, the S5 does not get recognized automatically and one has to "re-pair" manually ... a real nuisance and a well known BT issue with Samsung.

Contacting Samsung is a waste of time and effort; the "helpers" there know sweet nothing!
I guess I will have to get a third party BT app like A2DP which apparently does it seamlessly.

We shall see.

First thing I did was get the Otter "Defender" case and holster for my S5. Worth every penny IMO.

Yes indeed.
I had an Otter case for the lost S2 and will probably get another for the S5.
Great grip, tough, and fitted perfectly.

Do you pair your S5 to the car?

Only to my Garmin GPS, they seem to hook up with no problem. My Expedition is a `97, preceding BT
My Dad`s Highlander seems to see it without a problem, just never bothered trying to connect.
edit: My Mothers S5 seemed to work fine in their high-lander and the RAW4.
edit: She got rid of the first RAW4 because it would not hook up with her S5 IIRC lol.
