George Carlin...

Sadly my all time favorite comic George Carlin passes away at 71 of heart failure...

He was one of the very few comics who really spoke for me and I worshipped him. He will be very sadly missed

George Carlin, irreverent comedian, dies at 71 - International Herald Tribune

Not Cardinal Glick!

Didn't see much of his standup routine, not 'round hither parts, but do remember this from his website:

Wow my wife and I were just talking about him last night. Carlin was one of those humorists who current comedians either tried to copy or emulated. Sad day indeed.

The universe just got a little less funny.

He was brilliant and one of a kind in every way. I didn't always agree with him - he even pissed me off once in a while - but he everything he did he did with complete honesty and integrity and in the end he always made me laugh.

Be excellent to each other and Party on, man!

The wife and I saw him at the MGM Grand several years ago - he was great. I owned several of his LP's over the years. A true comic genius and he will be sadly missed.

I was awakened by NPR announcing his death this morning - making the day a s*ckworthy one at the start. I remember watching him on the Johnny Carson show - before his hair and language turned him into an icon. I have a few of his records and a DVD of a Vegas show.

I bought my son his "Brain Droppings" book when it first came out (much to the shagrin of my wife). I will always remember his lines.
Hippy Dippy Weatherman "The day will start out --- dark - then it will get light and fade to dark".
"We all know that a Mexican High is better than a Canadian Low".
The sports caster - "And now some partial scores --- Philadelphia 6".

His stand up stories - ref at the Little Bighorn, what about stuff, the difference between the language of football (american) and baseball and his absolute delight in the twists and turns of the english language. The man was a genius and he will be missed - even the Mr. Conductor gig was a pure gem.

I am saddened that I never got to see him live. Now we can only imagine what he would have said as our world goes spinning on.

The Elitist - formerly known as PDL ---- bye George
