Glad I don't ride any longer

How sad; regardless of the cyclists passing on a double line or not, is not a reason to try to kill them. It's very fortunate neither were killed. Apparently the man that swerved & hit them, has no remorse whatsoever.

Driver Swerves and Hits Motorcycle In Texas Highway

I've loved motorcycles for many years, and enjoyed them so much; but glad in today's world I've hung up my helmet.

For those still riding, ride safe!

Yep; that explains his lack of remorse or concern for the injured cyclists.

That video has been seen by a lot of people and is posted all over. I saw it on FB yesterday. Fortunately, they have this guy and he has been charged with assault. Far too often, these guys get away with just traffic tickets. Still, riding is in my blood and I will continue.....

My understanding from latest FB posts is that the rider is OK (with a fair amount of road rash), his passenger is in the hospital, and yes he has been charged.

The car driver has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The driver of the cycle was ok, but his girlfriend that was riding on the back, was injured badly, and was taken to an intensive care unit.

Thank you both for the additional information.

That's good to hear.

And for his total lack of remorse if nothing else, I trust that the penalties for such behaviour are commensurate.

Lets hope things turn well for lassie.

Yes, if it was an accident; the first thing a driver would ask is if the other party is ok, rather than replying "I don't care" at least a couple of times. Very shameful; it's a miracle one of the cyclists or both were not killed.

It's good they both survived, but someone doing something illegal isn't an excuse to run them over.

I does seem that car driver intentionally tried to play "justice" for the biker crossing double line. Unbelievable. No emotions in driver's voice at all. Hope he cares now...

The prosecutors are going for assault rather than attempted murder? What did the driver think was going to happen to the bikers when thrown off?

That the bikers clearly broke the law as well will also be taken into account.

Hope not, Chris, that would just reward escalating vigilante road ragers!

A traffic offence by those bikers is a separate matter.

Prosecutor would have to prove his intent was to murder them. Any good lawyer would enter the plea that he was instead trying to scare them (which is what I suspect really happened). Assault is undisputable, attempted murder isn't.

While I'm not justifying what the idiot in the car did by any stretch, the idiot on the bike has a share of culpability in this too. Road rage isn't excusable, but neither are some of the acts that lead to road rage.
