What is/was your favorite console based video game system (of all time so far)?

As much as I love pc gaming, I also have an affection for some of the older console video game systems. Just curious to see what others say theirs are. For me, it's the Sega Saturn. Despite not getting nearly the game title support that UK/Japan got I still loved the saturn dearly. I have owned 3 atari systems, the original NES, an original Xbox, a Playstation 1 (psx for short), and a playstation 2. I am not qualifying portable handheld systems for this discussion. Please vote in the poll... I'll try to add as many options as possible. Please don't use the poll options marked "do not use" as they were extra entry boxes left over once I had already typed out the selection options.

Impossible to ever recreate/surpass the original NES nostalgia for me so it gets my vote.

FYI, the Commodore 64 was a computer, not a console. Thanks for posting anyway. Looking forward to the memories.

Can't comment, I don't really use game consoles (or computers for gaming).

There were 2 commodore 64's, one a computer, the other a game console. The console suffered and failed from the software usually being a direct port to cartridge without changing controls, meaning if you needed a keyboard input the game was unusable. I did my research before posting it as an option.

If you are talking about this - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64_Games_System - then yes it is based on the Commodore 64 but it's full name appears to have been the "Commodore 64 Games System" and according to Wikipedia it wasn't sold outside Europe. No wonder I never heard of it. Besides, I was learning PASCAL on a Mac Plus at that point, lol.

I had an Atari 2600. IIRC Zaxxon was my favorite game.
Later I often played the original DOS PC version of Tetris.
I've been video game-free since. I guess I am a freak.

I went from the Old Atari 2600 to PC's and never looked back, though we do have a PlayStation, Wii, and Xbox. I just never use any of them, but I do play games on the PC. The newest (and hopefully bug free) version of Batman is on my Xmas list. Also liked Borderlands and the Bio Shock series.

I really miss sega in the world of consoles.... even if they never gave the cd based systems the support they deserved. It's even more sad to see capcom pretty much sentencing megaman to death though.

I had to go with the N64. The Atari 2600 was great and I loved mine but the N64 still holds a special place for me. I don't know how many hours I spent playing Mario Kart and Goldeneye (were there any other games?) I was in college when it came out and we would have a line of people waiting for their turn as the loser(s) had to give up their seats.

Are you really surprised lol!

If it will make you feel any better, I play Minecraft PE on my iPad and am thinking of building a gaming pic this winter.
