They can be fun to listen to how agitated some people get and then broadcast to everyone. I was thinking more of how people behave where they actually know the person to whom they are talking.

And sometimes, regardless of which side the speaker was on, ours or the other, we will then joke about how worked up they got.

As for politicians, I could tell you of near encounters I had with senior politicians, one from each big party, where the individuals looked straight past me when I was the nearest person and only a foot from their face. But to go further might be considered political.

This started as a thread about language, then devolved into politics and the focus now seems to have become a discussion about discussing politics.
I starting to think it has outlived its usefulness.
