Sure glad I didn't see that forbidden post before the warning came up. Have lapsed in the past by forgetting what is not allowed . Actually, it's the same topics that are forbidden at dinner if you want your guests to remain your friends.
Officers' Mess rules in Canada forbid religious discussions and discussions of ladies (even the ladies of the night). They don't forbid political, though.

AFAIK the same can be said for the UK.

Hi Richard... there's a rule for the General Talk forum that reads "This forum is for all threads that are unrelated to photography and Pentax. No politics or religion allowed.". There's also a General Conduct rule that reads "Political and religious discussion/commentary is not allowed anywhere on the forum with one exception: Photography related political issues may be discussed in the General Photography forum".

See https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/29-welcomes-introductions/1-welcome-forum-rules.html for more info.

Hope this helps

This is part of what makes this forum a nice place to be.

It is also interesting to see how the definition of what constitutes 'political' comment seems different in different countries. Some of that is which issues are seen as political and some of it is in what things in society are viewed as political.

Since the moderator most responsible for this thread is from US, the US interpretation of what constitutes 'political' will be what suddenly leads to a 'cease and desist' statement which might take some from other countries by surprise, simply for not seeming to have come out of problematic discourse.

That is part of the personal enrichment of mixing with people from all over, you get to find out things you cannot see sticking with your own mob.

No one answered my question about a word which variously means irate or inebriated, but not normally both.

In English usage, 'pissed' means inebriated and 'pissed off' means annoyed.

In Michigan, the equivalent to that seems to be " Hissing Fit"

We have hissy fits as well. Locally, the phrase is being mardy and in Cornwall where I was bought up it is being maisy.

Following from Tim60's post, it is entirely possible to be both at the same time, especially if you get inebriated because you are "annoyed"

I think that in the UK, having "a hissing fit" would generally be considered to be rather less severe than being pissed off.

And then there is "It's pissing with rain" - reminded me to add that because that's what the weather is like here this evening

It is pissing with rain here in Lincoln, as well - or, as the Cornish say 'henting down'.

And I gather that Cornwall (Extreme South West of England) is getting a much more severe "henting down" than we are tonight.
