Sticking with the theme of this thread.

One day two bundles of kale, who were best friends, were walking together down the street. They stepped off the curb and a speeding car came around the corner and ran one of them over.
The uninjured kale called 911 and helped his injured friend as best he was able. The injured kale was taken to emergency at the hospital and rushed into surgery.
After a long and agonizing wait, the doctor finally appeared. He told the uninjured kale, "I have good news, and I have bad news.
The good news is that your friend is going to pull through."
"The bad news is that he's going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life".

I don't know what animal, but as to taste, think cow chips with cilantro added.

Kale is really good for you.

We have kale salads all the time.

Once you get on to a site like Calorie Count and start analyzing what you eat, you soon realize you are never getting an A, without foods like spinach and kale.

It's sad but it's true.

Bacon, cheese and beer will not keep you in good health. You can hate what yo eat or die young, those are your choices.

Kale is basically the same plant as cabbage, kohlrabi, broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts, the diversity a consequence of selecting for different features of the original plant (leaves, stem, buds, flowers). Kale may be the closest in form to the original plant.

Three men are sitting in a room smoking a few spliffs then run out of gear.

One of the men stands up and says, 'Look, we've got loads more tobacco, I'll just nip into the kitchen and make one of my specialties.'

Off he goes into the kitchen where he tips out some containers from the spice rack, grinds then rolls them up. On his return he hands it to one of his smoking partners who lights it and takes a long drag.

Within seconds he passes out. Ten minutes go by and he's still out cold, so they decide to take him to hospital.

On arrival he is wheeled into intensive care. The doctor returns to his friends and asks,’ So what was he doing then? Cannabis?'

'Well sort of', replies one of the guys, 'But we ran out of gear, so I made a home-made joint.'

'Oh' replies the doctor, 'so what did you put in it?'

'Um, a bit of cumin, some turmeric and a couple of other spices.'

The doctor sighs, 'Well that explains it.'

'Why, what's wrong with him?' demands one of the men.

The doctor replies, 'He's in a korma’.

Made mine - eat and drink whatever I like, whenever I like, and to h*ll with the consequences (and probably me too). Anyone want to come to my 100th birthday party ?

Then I probably wouldn't like it. broccoli and brussel sprouts are inedible. I don't know kohlrabi but cabbage is OK as is cauliflower when cooked with white sauce and cheese as my Swiss M-I-L used to make it - but not as my mother used to cook it!

It is curious - and exasperating - that so many foods that nutritionists mark as excellent are boring or even borderline obnoxious to my pallet. On the other hand, many things that I really enjoy, crave, and may even be mildly addicted to eating (dark chocolate) are on the "avoid these" list. A recent study found that for people over 45, drinking just one no-cal soda per day tripled the risk of stroke, and for people over 65 just one-a-day tripled the risk of getting dementia. I'm in the latter age category, and drink two no-cal sodas daily - lunch and dinner. Worked at getting a taste for it many years ago, to reduce sugary soda intake. So now what do nutritious recommend I should drink? water, water, water. B-O-R-I-N-G-!-!-! My thoughts? There are worse ways to go than a stroke, and if ignorance is bliss, dementia will be a blessing, and a won't know or care what's happening when I stroke cuts me down. Change diet at my age? Might as well ask me to cure myself of LBA. He who goes out with an enviable lens collection was really enjoying this hobby.
