Now that lockdown is easing, there is more traffic on the roads. I nearly got run down by a sports car yesterday.

I thought 'Oh. MG'.

Very early during the lockdown in London, the Met Police pulled over and charged a much larger number than normal drivers of speeding cars (some doing WELL in excess of 100 mph UK, so higher than 100 mph US!) on the roads around here. Personally I saw one car doing about 50-60 mph on the urban dual-carriageway just North of here where the posted limit is 40 mph, and most people don't exceed 35 mph for "self-preservation" reasons

In the 1960's my aunt had a Canadian market Vauxhall Viva... which GM named Envoy Epic. These cars were known colloquially by mechanics as the Envoy Epidemic....rather than Epic....as they were known to have significant mechanical issues.

We had for some years a Rover 2000, a nicely designed car that was badly constructed.

We also had a Renault 16 which had by far the cleverest, most flexible and useful interior of any car we've owned. It also had remarkably comfortable front seats despite their simple design. Something about the weight distribution, tires, and front wheel drive gave it excellent handling in snow and on icy roads, significantly better as best I remember than my current AWD Subaru Forester. But mechanically? OMG did it teach me a lot about fixing cars on my own.
