Bear encounters

Due to the ever-increasing frequency of human-bear encounters, the Fish, Wildlife and Game Authority has issued the following advice and guidance for hikers, hunters, fishermen and any other persons using wild areas in a recreational or work-related capacity, including precautions to be taken in an area where bears are known or thought to be present.

Firstly, outdoorsmen and women are advised to wear small noisy bells attached to their clothing, in order to give advance warning to bears which may be nearby, so that they are not taken by surprise, which can provoke attacks should the bear(s) feel threatened.

It is also advised that 'Pepper Spray' is carried, and deployed in the event of a threatening encounter with a bear.

A warning of recent nearby bear activity is the presence of bear faeces or droppings. By examining this evidence, it is possible to tell the species of bear which has left its mark, thus :

Black bear droppings are smaller, and usually contain lots of partially digested berries, mixed with liberal amounts of squirrel fur, thus indicating the diet of these creatures.

Brown, or grizzly, bear droppings are substantially larger, contain many small bells and smell strongly of pepper.

I'm going to work on being less condescending.

(Condescending is talking down to people)

So you are saying conceit is a fault and you have none? In my opinion conceited people think they are great. I'm not conceited because I KNOW I'm great.

People who think they know everything are really irritating those of us who actually do.

No matter how many times I read this joke, it stays funny.

Reminds me of the joke of the two outdoorsmen who encounter a bear. The one puts on his running shoes.
His mate says: "How on earth do you think running shoes will help you outrun a bear?"

He replies: "I don't have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you."
