Naming your kids after a favorite drink or a car, like "Chablis" or "Porche", is not a good idea. My daughters, Budweiser and Peterbilt, still haven't forgiven me....

VAV names. Two actual names given to girls in my high school - names that elicited a murmur and chuckle every time they were read as a teacher took attendance - Bubbles Ross and Honey Zipper. Among themselves, some boys were boys with the latter.

Twins born to a mother I heard of rejoiced in the names of Armani and Versace. This would be funny enough, but it was topped with the surname of MacLatchie.*

Another mother thought of a beautiful name for her baby girl - she really thought Chlamydia was quite the loveliest she’d ever heard. Never did hear if the name stuck.

*lest ye think this is just a story, I thought so too; but have had this confirmed from several who know the family, and the twins…
