Was on a course some years ago with a chap that insisted on being called Richard. no diminutives allowed !!

Mr and Mrs Head' choice of their offspring's name seemed to be a lifelong problem for Richard,

I was at school with a Richard Hunt who was similarly tetchy about any shortening of his name!

NSFW (probably…………)

An attractive man and a blonde meet in an elevator. "Where are you heading today?" the man asks. "I'm going down to give blood." "How much do you get paid for giving blood?" "About $30." "Wow," says the man, "I'm going up to donate sperm, and the sperm bank pays $100." The woman slightly annoyed gets off the elevator. The next day, the man and woman meet in the elevator again. "Fancy meeting you again. Where you off to today?" "Sperm bank," she mumbles with her mouth full.
I went to give blood last week, but it turned out to be a real hassle with all those questions. "Who's blood is it?", why is it in a bucket?"....

VAV names. Two actual names given to girls in my high school - names that elicited a murmur and chuckle every time they were read as a teacher took attendance - Bubbles Ross and Honey Zipper. Among themselves, some boys were boys with the latter.

Some hippies I knew back in the day named their daughter Sunny April. She was born in April, and it was a sunny day.

I think that being stoned on marijuana was an influential factor the day their precious daughter came into the world.

Could be worse! The great Terry Pratchett often wrote about a Native American spirit guide whose shortened name was 'One-Man-Bucket'!

Wikipedia explains it as follows:

"One-Man-Bucket will admit that in one respect he was far better off than his brother. In the naming convention of his tribe, he was named after the first thing his mother saw out of the tepee. His name is short for One-Man-Pouring-A-Bucket-Of-Water-Over-Two-Dogs.

His slightly older twin brother's name was conventionally shortened to 'Two-Dogs-F%&#!@&'. Who were emphatically not fighting at the time their mother looked out of the tepee. He'd have given his right arm to have been called Two-Dogs-Fighting!!!"

There used to be a NASCAR driver named Dick Trickle. That must have been one tough guy to go through life with a name like that.

This is also a true story VAV names. The sister of a good friend was named Penny Rich. She married a man named Christopher Poor (not sure if that is the correct first name). So their wedding invitation read: "Come watch a Rich girl become a Poor woman."

True funny name story: Back when I was married, my wife’s gynecologist married my wife’s podiatrist. Around town they were known as Puss and Boots.

When I was at junior school, a girl in our class was named Jennifer Taylor. Always Jennifer - never Jenny.

If Bo Derek married Don Ho, she'd be Bo Ho.

If Sondra Locke married Elliott Ness, then divorced him to marry
Herman Munster, she'd become Sondra Locke Ness Munster.

If Ella Fitzgerald married Darth Vader, she'd be Ella Vader.

If Whoopi Goldberg married Peter Cushing, she'd be Whoopi Cushing

If Dolly Parton married Tommy Smothers, then went even further back in show
business and married Mr. Lucky, then divorced and married Martin Short, then
divorced and married football kicker Ray Guy, we could all nod
understandingly when we heard, "Dolly Parton Smothers Lucky Short Guy".

If you look carefully on a map of Vermont, you may be able to locate Tickle Naked Pond. Apparently there is no amusing story behind the name. It's thought to be a corruption of the Native American name for the pond.
