Yes...the real Otis is still around.....with proper nutrition and exercise they can live 20 years....Otis gets plenty of the best to eat......exercise?......not so much, but he does command other squirrels to do it for him!

As mischievous as ever.....

No, they all know who they are.

It also lets us differentiate from Bruce
(being Koala's after all)

I donīt think bacon and cheese meels are regarded as the top squirrel food by most other squirrel-experts?

Experts are not familiar with "elite" squirrels!

I tried that approach to dieting. I was never able to get back into trim shape doing it that way as Otis is able to .

I could never tell the difference between Chip and Dale...

as my son learned years ago at WDW

think Chocolate Chip

Chip is the one with the dark nose.

how does one join the "Otis" group?

another "under cover" squirrel checking to see if he was successful in shaking off the surveillance.

Seems like you missed focus a bit on your squirrel shot. Focus is on the leaves to the right. Kind of hard to get focus with a 50mm lens though. Nice try.
The squirrel is working undercover...if the poster had got him in focus the squirrel would have had to kill him....we don't want that on our conscience!

The strangeness of squirrels.....Every year around this time...mid September...squirrels disappear here.Maybe one or two will be seen in the early morning nibbling at a feeder a few minutes, then gone for the day. This will continue for several weeks....few if any squirrels will be seen during the day.
There are so many here, too many to count. I look out into he Woods of Otis and it is vacant...silent....no squirrels in sight.

I know some about squirrels for sure, but every year this mystery returns and I can only speculate as to where they are and what they are doing? I am certain they are up to no good, but just what kind of no good, I don't have a real clue?

Any speculations?

Regards!

As good a guess as any. I watch this ever year and am seriously baffled. As I look out now, the squirrel feeders are full and there is not a squirrel in sight, where there would usually be well over a dozen.
When this happens, the bird population at the bird feeders and the cedar fence also drastically decreases. I understand this, since the birds watch the squirrels as sentries for lurking dangers......a cat shows up the squirrels evacuate and all begin their barking, which alerts the birds of the danger. Hence...the birds see no squirrels and are reluctant to land, even though the feed is there plentiful and in plain sight. Crazy stuff!
