I've been a little annoyed by that too but I got a PayPal debit card and now I can just use that on Amazon (or where ever).

yeah, this is what i did too and that works for me.

I tried to get a PayPal debit card but the only thing I got was a card to use where they accept PayPal, it's not a debit card though. From what I understand the only debit card available now is a business one and you need a tax number to get a business account.
