Thanks guys. I took a few deep breaths after looking at the bid I just lost. I feel much better now On the bright side, at least I can concentrate on a K 50/1.4 now.

Yes, I resisted the use of sniping to bid in ebay. But with one failed bid after another, I concluded that sniping had a much better chance of success, and with cost savings too.

alot more, It was over my budget anyway.

I've been there. I once lost a lost a bid on 400 year old map of my beloved city of Coimbra, Portugal where I spend my summers. I lost it by $2.50 but the kicker was that I was about to win it for $150 and the map was probably worth in the neighbourhood of $1000-1500. I was so upset that I punched my metal desk making a big dent in it and spraining 3 of my fingers.

I learnt my lesson though. Now I fight fire-with-fire and use sniping services when I really want something.

I would just bid for the last second instead with your highest possible offer. Then no regret.

get smart

I too was a nice friendly ebayer until I learned if you want something bad, you don't let on until the last possible moment. Set a sensible maximum and dont bid until you see the whites of their eyes. Wrong metaphor, but you know what I mean.
