Well found out today my great great uncle (on my mothers side) was the third officer on the Titanic.

Herbert John Pitman : Titanic Third Officer

Found it quite an interesting read, especially his account of the sinking.

I hope others enjoy it.

That is a cool link to history to have.

I found out, when a Titanic exhibit was at the state museum in Indianapolis, that the little town I live in has a link to the sinking.

I have lived here from around 1978 and about 20 years ago, the town put up new signs on the outskirts of town that said, Historic Knightstown. I always wondered what was so historic about Knightstown. When I was at the exhibit, they had a story on a plaque on a wall about a professional gambler that was a first class passenger on the ship. Come to find out that he had been born in this town I live in and when he passed away, he was cremated and is buried in the cemetery on the north west end of town.

His name was Harry Homer and he sailed under an assumed name of E. Haven.
