Nothing new there then eh!?

I am one of those strange Brits (or is that ex-Brit now I've been away for 24 years) who cannot stand football/soccer, never have (I don't drink tea either).

I much prefer the games played with egg shaped or small red or white balls (rugby or cricket for those who didn't get my reference).

The score definitely flattered England.

As someone said over here... "Honestly, if me and 10 blind squirrels went and played football against England, I bet we could score zero. Eeeasy."

New Zealand have just beaten New Caledonia 2 - 0. Win Oceania and we may have to beat Argentina to qualify. Ha, easy

As a Scot who now lives in Spain, I'm not a huge football fan but I see great football all the time over here, and when I go back home and see what passes for football in Scotland it's easy to understand why we lose almost every game. I see adolescents in my local park play better football than the professionals in Scotland.

The US just lost to Mexico. Our men's team has always been second tier at best. Where I live near Rochester, NY football/soccer has been popular with kids leagues for over 50 years. Lots of town leagues and intertown "select" tournaments all summer. Yet, once the kids reach mid teens, most of them walk away from the game.

Scotland And Ball Sports...

The Rugby result didn't get any better for Scotland either, I've come to the sad conclusion it does matter what the ball shape is... we still can't play the game, whatever.

The Rugby League team almost got a great result. Andy Murray seems well placed in the world rankings. I suspect an image taken in Scotland might just win a Pentax competition.
Not all doom and gloom north of Hadrian's wall.

I'm sure that's why we all take a dram up here.

A dram of something I think is quite disgusting in taste? Give me a Shiraz anytime.

I don't follow any sports ** but I understand Australia has been playing cricket quite badly lately. I have no idea of the scores, I just heard someone mention it.

** I'd probably watch a game of hurling just to see the Irish try to kill each other with the stick and ball. I'm sure only the Irish are mad enough to play that game!
