What happened to that? I never played it but remember there being much chatter in the news, and tragic stories. Then it just dropped off the radar completely (or so it seems).

I think the advent of winter in the northern hemisphere had something to do with it. Plus I think that most of the players got run over buy automobiles while blindly following the screen on their phone and losing all situational awareness.

Think of it like gym memberships in January... By March the rate of gym-goers drops by 50%... By June you're back down to your crowd of regulars.

Yes, I strongly suspect winter plays a role. Not so sure about the part with people being run over

I see there are some still playing around here, mainly children. I never played Pokemon Go myself, but I do play the "predecessor" from Niantic, Ingress. Although I play it because I already do walk/hike, and not the other way around, it does inspire to make detours to capture just one more portal and link up one more field... Heck of a lot better than playing with the phone on the couch
