I can't tell you which update started it bit my s5 did the same thing

I ended up disabling almost every Samsung app...that helped some

when I turned off wifi and Bluetooth...that fixed it for me
the system was constantly searching for a signal

now I only turn them on when I need to

Are there any I shouldn't turn off?

I don't know enough to tell you what is safe to do

the only Samsung app I have running is the link platform
google's sync function was a problem so I only use it to retrieve mail on demand

I turn on wifi, Bluetooth and gps only when i'm in need of it
those three functions and their datastreams to the various apps that call on them (active or not) seem to drag battery life down on my device the most

if i'm streaming music my phone runs for about two and half days
otherwise I get four to five using it as a "telephone"

this forum is as close as I get to social media, so there aren't many taxing demands as far as device usage goes

when on the road, I do tether to my tablet/laptop via usb and use gps and bluetooth
doing that I will get a day or day and a half per charge

the extended duration of use far outweighs the inconvenience of tapping a feature to life, for me anyway

Bluetooth...

That had been taxing my battery for the last few days, turned it off and all is back to normal.
Going on year 3 with the original battery, might be a time to consider getting a replacement.
