Another Aussie actor! I never saw The Time Machine but I remember Rod Taylor as the American journalist in the TV series Hong Kong with Lloyd Bochner as a police Chief Inspector.

I prefer Clint Eastwood movies.
Lloyd Bochner is a Canadian actor. Was he portraying a Brit ?

A lot of Australian and Canadian actors it seems, make a good living playing nationalities other than their own. Good for them I say. I been a fan of both Taylor and Bochner for a long time. Taylor did an excellent job in ...The Birds. Bochner was top notch in one of the Dirty Harry films, where he was the Mayor or Police Commissioner...can't recall which.

Another of my favorite movies is 1964's "Seven Days in May" directed by John Frankenheimer, who also directed Birdman of Alcatraz, Grand Prix, The Manchurian Candidate, The Train, and The Gypsy Moths.

It had big-name stars including Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Fredric March, Martin Balsam, Ava Gardner, Edmund O'Brien, and Whit Bissell.

The movie was written mostly by Rod Serling of Twilight Zone fame.

In a nutshell, Burt Lancaster, with the heads of the different armed services, is planning a political coup to overthrow president Fredric March. Kirk Douglas works for Lancaster and discovers the secret, which he relays to the president.

There are no weak scenes, so I give you two.

In this first scene, President Lyman confronts General Scott.

This is the ending scene with a speech by the president, moments after obtaining the resignation of all the traitors. Rod Serling all the way.

Yes. Bochner did portray a British police officer in the then British Crown Colony of Hong Kong.

I liked The Birds, too. I am a fan of Hitchcock.

I used to be an Administrator on the RangeRovers.net forum and the forum owner (at that time), John Brabyn, lives halfway between Bodega and Bodega Bay. It was interesting to see the place where The Birds was set when I visited John a few years back. We had lunch in the restaurant there.

Soooo, I'll lower the bar here (a lot). My favorite scene is the beans and campfire scene from Blazing Saddles. Yes, that is my all time favorite movie, I confess. But only the full un-censored version, not the censored-for-TV version.

(growing older is required, growing UP isn't!!)

Funny, I can't name any one scene in particular. I have many favorite films though.

IMO any decent film must be a sum of many good scenes, among other things...

Now that is spooky....first time looking at this thread and 10 minutes ago I finished listening to a recording (made yesterday) from BBC Radio 4, who are broadcasting radio versions of classic Twilight Zone stories. The one I listened to was....To Serve Man (and yes, I did guess the twist)

Anyway, favourite scenes from films....the last shot of "Planet of the Apes", Charlton Heston and a certain statue....Julie Christie and Terence Stamp (and his sword) in the woods in "Far From the Madding Crowd"....

I don't think I could pick an absolute favorite movie scene, but if I could, more than one from Blazing Saddles would be in contention.
The beans around the campfire being the odds on favorite.

Blazing Saddles- YouTube
I nearly chose that too! I also like the scene in "The Producers" (the original film, not the film of the musical of the film) where Mel Brooks throws water over Gene Wilder- "I'm WET and hysterical!!"

I wouldn't waste my money.

If you ever want to "Waste your money", there are plenty of good John Wayne movies to watch.

The Shootist
True Grit
The Cowboys
The War Wagon
The Searchers
Big Jake
McLintock, One of the greatest chase scenes of all time.

One of my favorite scenes of all time also came out of this movie

The Flying Leathernecks
The Flying Tigers
The Fighting Seabees
The Sands of Iwo Jima
The Quite Man
The Man who Shot Liberty Valance
Rio Bravo
Hellfighters (I have watched this movie close to 200 times.)

Lobby shootout in Matrix...
And "Kick Ass - Rasul's Place Fight"
Just among some, too many good movies to really have just one favorite scene.

Okay, I thought of something. Most Hitchcock movies have many memorable scenes.
In North By Northwest who can forget Cary Grant getting chased by the crop duster,
or the scramble up the face of Mount Rushmore? But my absolute favorite scene of
the film is when he tries to create a diversion at the art auction - by bidding down...
