Here's a scene from Another Earth, my favorite movie for quite some time. Right out of the blue, one day, a new planet appears really close to Earth. I love how the movie doesn't even try to offer some scientific explanation for this. It's just there. It looks exactly like Earth: same-shaped continents and oceans and eventually it becomes clear that this is a duplicate of our own world, but to what degree?

I did read it, but all I remember is "Oł sont les Neigedens d'antan?"

1969's Easy Rider. Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper are two bikers passing through town, and in jail meet drunkard lawyer Jack Nicholson.

Unfortunately the clip does not cut to the next scene...

Can any movie do justice to a book? How long does it take to read a book? How long does it take to watch a movie?

Catch-22 was a mindbender. I loved it, along with novels I consider to be similar; Slaughterhouse 5, Mash and not on topic, but similar in style, Catcher In The Rye.

Agree completely, Audiobomber.

Lots of authors have loathed adaptations of their movies, no matter how big the cheque they got.

For a sad ending, The end of Rogue One where Darth Vader slays the heck out of those poor rebel guys.

For a happy ending, Stand And Deliver.

Ray Bradbury once said he hated Fahrenheit 451 (I was there as a kid), then later loved it. That was a pretty good adaptation, though.

The movie had no written credits - they were spoken. The tram in this scene was a short experimental section, in France.

Yes, well, it's a Truffaut.

HBO are doing a version for TV.
