Scam on Amazon?

Warning - be careful with this one. It looks too good to be true - and for a reason.

It is actually a scam .. I had an experience almost like this.. if you look at the description you will see that they request to contact them first.. when you do and ask information about the item they tell you that they lens is at the amazon warehouse and in order to do the transaction you have to pay it using the amazon Gif card page... ( there it all sounds bad ) .. so basically they want you to buy gifcards and then send them the code so the can redem the cards... ofcourse.. the buyers gets nothing..

This is why I wanted a sticky post on the marketplace about these.. yes, it is an obvious scam. Please, don't contact the 'seller' unless you are into whips and chains.. because that's all you're going to get from them.

I did report this via Amazon chat. Very helpful and keen to put a stop to these clowns.

That seems to be an awkward page to scout out. Is it just a post of scammer's email confirmations? How do we best use it?

The scam is to make your payment in the form of Amazon gift certificates which are emailed to the seller. That's the last you'll see of your money.

I ran into one of these when I was buying a drone. The exact same scenario of contacting them first and then looking for payment outside of Amazon. Very glad I thought better of the deal that was too good to be true.

I have reported it five times, which includes twice calling Amazon until I could talk to customer service. The last time I suggested sellers be required to set up an account that must go through Amazon. The CS agent said she'd forward the suggest, and thanked me profusely for trying to help, yet here we are with Amazon still letting people sell who require buyers to contact the seller before the sale is completed. On the other hand, the big tell is that every Amazon scam ad of this sort requires buyers "contact the seller." Very easy to recognize.
