So the lease expires and they have to move the warehouse. I guess if you want to work there you move too.

Misleading article.

They are moving their internet shipping warehouse to smarter location. Brooklyn is on an island with expensive bridge tolls and heavy traffic. That traffic hits twice, first when getting products from manufacturers and again when shipping back out to customers.

Brooklyn is great for shipments to 5 counties. Every other county is better served from NJ.

Soo let me understand this.... the workers complained that the place is hazardous to work in a particular building. B&H decides to move to a new facility that would have better conditions. Id imagine they are saving money too. The workers do not like that B&H are now moving, and are now boycotting the better conditions and the idea they are moving. Did i get that right? Yup ill still buy things from there.

It sounds like B and H is going to move their warehouses to New Jersey, regardless of the worker situation. Probably doesn't make sense for most companies to have warehouses in such a location from a logistics standpoint.

I don't know if the work environment is really that different from Brooklyn to New Jersey. They'll have to treat their workers well if they expect to retain good ones.

Thousands of people commute daily from Jersey to work in NYC. Why is this a big deal? Get on the bus or train or drive and commute like everybody else. They will have the benefit less crowds and less traffic as you will be going in the opposite direction of everybody else. I'm surprised B&H hasn't closed up shop and moved everything to Jersey. More and more businesses are moving away from NY State every year.

B&H workers have threatened to walk out against alleged unfair practices and bad conditions for years. B&H has finally acted to address the conditions - and they're threatening a walkout against the better conditions.

From the article:

...New York City Democratic Socialists (DSA) have launched an official boycott against B&H Photo ...
Well, that says it all. The DSA is basically protesting capitalism. I bet if any of those "workers" started their own successful business they'd have a different point of view.

70 miles is not a short commute, at least around here, which would be at least 2 hours each way. If it was 20 miles, I would agree.

I guess I don't understand. If they are offered jobs in the new warehouse than they can choose to move or not. A local factory in southern Indiana closed and employees had the option of moving to another factory or finding a different local job. In that case, it wasn't even an option for employees to commute as the other plants were in Up-state New York and Hickory, North Carolina.

Some people chose to relocate and some not, but if the jobs are offered on the other end then it isn't the end of the world to chose to move to New Jersey and keep your job, even if it does involve relocation.

Clearly most have you have never lived nor commuted in the New York Metropolitan Area,
especially when earning the low wages typical in a job such as in a warehouse.

It will be impossible for the majority of B&H Photo's present workforce to commute or transfer.
If not a calculated part of the plan it is at least an additional benefit to the owners.

If I read right, B&H is offering to help with the costs of relocating. That's more than mine is offering me and I have to move to keep my job.
