I like it the idea, but not the reality of it...

however, I have recently sold off three primes that I simply never really connected with:

DA35/2.4
Tamron Adaptall-2 02B (28/2.5)
Sigma Mini-Wide 2 (28/2.8)
I find it fascinating how subjective our like or dislike of lenses can be. I absolutely love the DA35 f/2.4, but opinions on it seem to be quite mixed...

exactly - and my copy of the DA35 was exemplary; great color rendition, quick focus, extreme clarity..... and too clinical for me...

(shrugs)

I think I've progressed in my pursuit of photography from the science to the art of it....

next to go is my Tamron 17/3.5....

I suppose I have de-acquired my 18-55 as it now has permanent residency at my father's (his wasn't WR). And I think maybe the K-5 and 18-135 will go the same way now that the 28-105 has taken over duty as WR/travel lens (on the K-1). If he's willing to trade his K10D for it, of course

The poor little DA35mm/2.4 was up against my Super Takumar 35mm/2.0. And when it came down to the naturalism of the colour rendering, which for me is the beginning and end of what I care about with lenses, the DA didn't stand a chance against the Tak.

Nonononono, you've got that completely wrong! It's the sharpness that is the be all and end all, you see.

Why? Because it can be measured

this is going to be very hard to get ! The Porst is very nice. The closer thing in 35mm would be the Kerlee 35mm f1.2 but only for mirrorless (i am the devil, father of temptation :P )

Jokes aside, not many wide can render like the Porst i think.

FWIW, 15 years ago, when I had stopped flipping eBay cameras and was down to just two lenses and a KX, my K35/3.5 was one of the two. It was my 'cold, dead hands' lens then and still is one of my favorite lenses.

NIB/NOS Vivitar Series 1 P/KA 105/2.5 Macro bought from a San Francisco Dealer who had 20 on eBay listed at $289 obo. His clearing price was $188 (the first time), then $199 and $219 This was in 2000 IIRC.

Like many, I won't be able to contribute to this thread as often as I do to the acquisition one. I am waiting to hear back from someone about selling my M 135/3.5, but have arranged to buy another lens (and camera) this afternoon, assuming they're in good condition.
