Bummer about your car and camera gear. It always sucks when some loser thinks that taking the property of others is OK.

But who steals a car that is nearly 20 years old? Sure, Subaru makes great cars, but when they get that old what are they really worth, a few hundred bucks?
I have the same thought about the camera...it's probably worth more to the original owner than they will ever get for it...

With money being tight, projects that require funding and a whole lot of unused gear gathering dust inside a filing cabinet, I am rethinking my stance on the de-acquisition thing.

A little more than your "few hundred bucks". Here's a quote in Montana

BTW, I just sold my 1982 Subaru Brat for more than those quotes!

So the Subarus hold their value better than I thought.

Thanks Carol!

I've just sold my faulty K 135mm f/2.5 as I've acquired a better copy. Hopefully the new owner will be able to fix it and get some great shots.

Just shipped off 2x P30T, 2x P3 and 1x P3N bodies to a fellow forum member. I'm sure he will put them to better use than just sitting in a closet.

That's a lot of film cameras for a single person!

Yep, he posted looking for a P30 for a project. However, since I had several (purchased as kits with lenses I wanted), I was able to offer a deal on the lot for basically the cost of shipping. I still have a KX, ME and some AF film bodies that I also need to pass onto a better home.

Makes sense. Thanks!

I did see that in the equipment for sale section. On the main page with all the listings it doesn't show a price at all (rather than $0 USD), so it may not be real obvious that it is free. Did it arrive from Adorama on the FA 43mm Limited, or was it a separate item? I know these caps are available on eBay from China, so it can be hard to tell if it's a genuine Penatx cap.

well

it is gone now

now to answer your questions:

if you followed the link and read the text I think it is very clear that it was being offered for free and how I got it

QuoteQuote:
Item Description
seeking to move to a good home

you pay postage and any fees

no other costs

it is is a used Asahi Opt. Co. Japan twist on rear cap sent to me when I recently bought an F 43 F1.9 limited from Adorama
.
Read more at: an Asahi Opt. Co. Japan marked rear lens cap - PentaxForums.com

the form does not let you list it as being free t but requires a $ amount

and I also attached a copy of the item

I doubt that anyone is counterfeiting them but anything is possible

Understood and clear from the listing itself. It looks like when you entered zero as the $ amount, the forum removed the price at the 'Photographic Equipment for Sale' list level. You then needed to click on the item listing itself to see that it was free (the point I was trying to make). My apologies if I caused any confusion or offense.

You may be right as it says 'Asahi Opt Co' on the cap you had. The 'Pentax' ones are certainly being copied. as you can buy them from China for $0.75 including shipping:
Rear Lens Caps Cover Plastic Round Rear Lens-Cap for Lens Pentax Black Colo G1G8 | eBay

I think that is an excellent way to go, and highly commendable. Thank you!

since Adorama sent me a rear cap that fits without charge

I really didn't need to recoup any costs so it seemed to be the right thing to do
