This week I sold my M 135mm f/3.5, the second manual lens I ever bought. I paid far too much for it (about double what it was worth) as I had no clue about manual lenses at the time, and sold it at a loss.

I almost never used it, though it made a couple of trips with me (New York, Sweden and Norway) as my telephoto option and performed better than the modern DA 50-200. Now that I have the M 120mm f/2.8 as well as a superior Tokina 135/2.8, the Pentax 135 had no use any more.

I have never " de aquisitioned " any lenses

I cannot convince myself that the amount I could get for any of it on the open market is worth while

and I have storage space

This is a good thread idea! Almost confessional.

Most recently I had two sales boomerangs: Panasonic GM5 (now sitting beside me) for a warranty repair, and a Fuji X-E1 (person just didn't like it). Now I'm not sure about getting rid of the GM5.....

Most recent Pentax gear was a DA 50mm F1.8 - went to my brother.

Next - I have to think hard about the 60-250mm (I haven't had a Pentax body in nearly 18 months) - been on loan to a forum member and picked up again today....

Money seems to be flowing out pretty good lately. Not much to show for it either.

In Pentax equivalents.

School taxes = One K1
Dental implant = One each K1+ D FA 15-30 + D FA 24-70 + DA 300mm F4.0 (Process started in March and will continue into this coming January)
Local county and town property taxes due in January = One K1 Silver kit.

I've heard about how expensive dentistry is in the US. Implants here are 1000 each, I need to get a couple (seem to keep forgetting to phone for an appointment).

One of them won't even get you half a K1. I think measuring outgoings in terms of K1s is probably a recipe for misery

That's an interesting idea to measure expenses in k1's... Just property taxes cost me 2 k1's a year and I am not even going to mention income taxes... And no, I am not one of the 1%, we just have high property taxes here...

Today I gave two SR mount lenses to the local camera shop:

  • Five Star Auto Zoom 1:3.5-4.8 35-70mm
  • JC Penney 1:4.5 80-200mm

Neither was that impressive, and I have several others that can cover those focal lengths via adapters (Adaptall, Adapt-a-matic, M42).

yesterday three Vivitar Series 1 lenses sent on the way to a newbie in Toronto in exchange for the recipient paying for shipping and insurance fees

Vivitar Series 1 3.5 200 mm prime af in lens 67 f (Cosina)

Vivitar Series 1 2.8-3.8 28 - 105 mm macro zoom [1:25] mf 67 f (Cosina)

Vivitar Series 1 2.8-4.0 70 - 210 mm macro zoom [1:25] mf 62 f ( ver. 3 ) (Komine)

some of the first lenses I ever had and they weren't going to bring much if any $ if I tried to sell.

______________________________

I had been given a gimbal for free by a member when I asked about gimbals in exchange for me agreeing to make a charitable donation

so when a newbie was asking about what lenses to get to start off with and and the lenses weren't being used

a light bulb went off.

I've pretty much sold most of my gear off.. 16-50, 55-300, 50-135, 10-20, DBG4, K-r, K-1... My 28-105 still up for sale and I might still sell the K-5 II and 18-135 as well as my DA 35 and 50 and a couple Pentax branded flashes.. 360 and a 540. Oh and a Sigma 120-400mm.. essentially my 'collection'.

Gasp, shock, eek..
