Maybe.. I pondered leaving photography all together.. but it is sort of a part of me. I have an idea but I'm not 100% on it.

I hope it works out.

p.s. if you have a good Super-Wide II AF, you keep me in mind for a sale, okay?

My KS2 with the 18-50 lens just went back to Amazon. Gorgeous camera, but a DSLR isn't right for me. I'm gonna have to pick up a little Ricoh or a Pentax film point and shoot so I can post here and not feel like a fraud. 😜

Leaving photography? What are you, high??

Seriously though, my interests ebb and flow. I occasionally write, and when I'm feeling it my output is prolific. Photography is the same way. I find it best to take pics regularly, even casually with my phone. The mental excercise keeps it fresh.

Packing up, moving and now trying to find places to store my boxes full of photo equipment
underscores how much excess gear I have acquired, and the need to dispose of much of it.
Of course a sane person would have thought about doing that before moving...

In the last month:

K-3, DA*16-50, DA*50-135 - virtually given away to my brother. Payment will be by instalments - of Wendouree reds

And my FA20 has gone off to a good home in Canada. I hope I don't regret that one....

Ive been down sizing lenses that i never liked or never use.

The dfa 100 had to go, was not liking the characteristic of the lens, wasnt the best for focusing, liked the small size though.

The da 55 was a great lens, but wasnt really using it, prefered the fa 43

The hd 55-300 also wasnt being used after i traded the k-3 for the k-1.

Offbrand

Liked the em5 ii by olympus, but i ended up trying the em1ii and liked the ergonomics and af of that camera, so me decluttering my bag i was able to get the em1ii for almost no cost.

My latest de-acquisition was my Pentax MX-1. I bought a Lumix LX100 to replace it. Almost the same weight and dimentions.
I do miss the tilting display and extra reach of the MX-1 (112mm vs 75mm). I wish Pentax would make a succesor with a 1 inch sensor!

What made you decide to move on from the FA20?

The DFA15-30
Equivalent IQ, weather resistant, and the ability to go even wider. I can live without filters.

Well

I sent an " experienced " Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 LD Tele-Macro [1:2] (Model 772D) for the cost of shipping to a new member of the forum who is new to photography

it functions well, but does have a " beauty mark " or two on the exterior. [ that silver color really makes those " beauty marks " jump out ]

____________________________

but I am in the process of acquiring an experienced Kiron 28mm F2 PKA prime

this gives me a " wide angle " [ if I ever go full frame ] quick lens which on my K 3 or K 5 II is the equivalent of a " normal " 35 mm film lens

it gives me a faster option to my HD Pentax DA 3.5-5.6 16 - 85 mm wr which is approximately F 4 at 28 mm

I just sold a Pentax chrome K2 body with SMC 55/1.8 lens to a PF member.
Buyer had one years ago when this model was new, and wanted another.

This one was serviced by Eric about ten years ago and not used much since.
During pre-shipping testing I noticed even the ASA dial still works properly.

I just said bye bye to a SMC Pentax-DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR sent to a newbie to the forum in exchange for the cost of shipping.

I am probably done with such actions.

all of the lenses I have transferred this way were in good working order but weren't being used by me

I hope they have gone to good homes and the new owners will enjoy them

the decision to take these actions was triggered by the generosity of another forum member who gave me a gimbal in exchange for a charitable donation

The Pentax K2 finally arrived at buyer's post in good condition so I'm relieved.
Next up is a *ist DS2 I will be shipping to a Pentax Forums member on Monday.
Another member may be interested in purchasing one of my Pentax KX bodies.

Gifted a good friend in my street the K-5, two batteries, charger, DCU 5, DA 55-300 (first version), a Joby tripod and ordered a cheap DA 18-55 for him as a starter kit. With the K-1 and K-3 in my posession this stuff didn’t got used that much anymore. My friend has a good eye, a camera that isn’t that very good and no chance to upgrade for a while.
