That must be a painful operation. I feel your pain.
Basically they're bodies I bought to get the lenses, lenses that were part of job lots, and occasional errors where I didn't spot a problem and got stuck with faulty kit . It would have been nice if I could sell everything, but my average sale price for a working Zenit or Praktica or a no-name zoom is around £4 plus postage, if they aren't more or less OK it isn't worth the effort fixing them. I've been putting off sorting it all out, but I need the room clear for about ten guests on Saturday so it has to be done.

Not quite a deaquisition but pretty much. I lost my DA* 50-135 because the shop I brought it to couldn't repair it. Now to get a new one.

does this fit this category ??

wife is demanding that I box up the new HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE I recently obtained from Adorama because of their sale price

the lens and all of its paperwork

she says she will ' take care of it '

and if I want one, I should count on Santa

we've only been married since Sept 7, 1991

and as you can tell, normally she has tolerating me gathering new and " experienced " cameras and lenses

should I trust her and Santa?

.

Have you considered Precision Camera and Repair ?

I recently received back my HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW that they worked on

the problem with the focus - AF and MF - has been fixed but I still am not able to use it to its full potential [ operator error problems ]

it took roughly 2 months and had to go to and from Japan

there was no warranty coverage on the lens

Precision does not charge for estimate of repair, only return shipping fees

That wouldn't be the first I've heard like that. Modern lenses sometimes are broken in ways that cost more to fix that the cost of buying another. Good luck on finding a good copy, and I'd keep the broken one for parts... Just in case, or offer it as a parts donor lens.

Not really a de-acquisition, but I just finished putting away the Christmas decorations, taking the leaves out of the dining room table and retiurning order to the storage room. The house seems so empty and cold now, but I found a lens I’ve been seeking for a couple weeks. It had been on a tabletop and was put aside after Thanksgiving.

My recent de-aquisitions where a Z50p, *istDS, 18-55, Sigma 70-300, Cosina 100mm F3.5 Macro and some B&W 35mm film. All donated to my son to help progress his photography skills.

No use for it? I had one when I was in Chicago for four years. Invaluable for buildings it was, on my MZ-S. Trees don't seem to be as obvious when you tilt up and down.

It didn’t have caps. I bought a less expensive one with caps.

Sold my big fisheye

This was not so much a de-acquisition as a sale and replacement. I bought an almost new P6 multi-coated Arsat 30mm f 3.5 fisheye on eBay, then turned around and sold my older single-coated version for same money.

It hasn't sold yet, but I'm selling my new copy of the Burnside 35mm F2.8 from Lensbaby.

I find that, try as I might, 35mm is not a focal length I can warm to. The same happened when I tested the 31mm, the lens was fantastic but I didn't enjoy the focal length.

So the Burnside will soon (I hope) find a new home where it will be put to better use!

Minolta SR-T202 with lens

Nobody here wanted the "fully-functioning SLR with lens" in our Holiday Giveaway.
It was claimed quickly in the holiday giveaway at another non-Minolta photo forum.
