The Fujinon 18-55mm went yesterday and reduces my Fujifilm setup to primes only.

The DA 40mm Limited is being shipped out on Monday.

Gee, I would never part with my 40mm. It works a treat on my K-01, even good on the K1.

It's a good lens (bar close focus which got VERY dreamy) and it was very useful to have a zoom but I much prefer primes and the speed they offer. The X system is now only for use when I really need small size and light weight and for that I'd almost always use a prime or two.

The 40mm is a very good lens but having the 43mm also means it has competition and the 43mm is film and FF compatible. I know the DA 40mm covers the film/FF sensor image circle quite well but the lack of an aperture ring means it can't be used on older film cameras.

In both cases they are only going in order to help fund my next lens in L mount, otherwise I wouldn't sell either. The loss of the 40mm means I no longer have all the DA Limited primes, which is a shame. I can't afford to have extra lenses lying around just for the fun of using something different every day when the money could be better used on a lens that I'll get a lot more use out of.

I was a little sad to package up and send off my little DA 21mm Limited as it's generally served me well and was the first compact wide-angle prime I bought. I remember thinking how nice it was to have a good quality wide-angle option without having to take a big zoom.

Pentax 645 gear

I am deacquisitioning lots of Pentax medium format gear. I sold the 645N, D, and Z, and shipped out about a dozen 645 and 67 lenses. One of my old favorites went out today, the Pentax 67 75mm f 2.8, at much lower price than the $2,000+ up to $3,000 we are seeing on eBay for this optic. It is going to a with my hopes for happy shooting!

The Sigma EF to L MC-21 adapter has just gone. Of my few EF lenses it only worked well on the Canon 50/1.8 STM. It was nice to confirm on digital that it's a good lens (I've only really used it on film) but I couldn't justify an expensive adapter just to use another 50/1.8 when I have a native 50/1.8 and umpteen manual 50s I can use with very cheap adapters. On all the other lenses (listed below) the camera seemed to think it worked fine, exposure was OK but the lenses never focused properly, to the extent it was clearly visible in the EVF, despite the camera giving focus confirmation. I had high hopes for the Tamron working and getting me a cheap f/2.8 standard zoom but alas. Still, I didn't lose any money on it so worth a try.

Tamron 28-70mm f/2.8
Sigma Super-wide 24mm f/2.8
Canon 28-90mm kit lens

Moving again - to a small island with no need for a vehicle - so car is gone - sold after almost exactly 5 years. Only dropped 8K on the new price - but had low klms and was in overall good condition. Now diesel prices are up 20% so timing is perfect.

Probably will go carless for next several years - will hire if and when needed. Next owned car will probably be electric. LOL
