Well since i like the auto setting so much, i voted "novice" but i do have serious intentions LOL

Regardless of "status" you guys have some pretty good images.

I'd choose either a Student and a Teacher.

I chose pro.

My photography isn't the best you've ever seen. But if I am going to make the rent, I need to act like a professional on and off the job.

...then I book shoots, collect the rent and have fun!

I chose Amateur ... but now seeing what others have selected I really an a Novice when it comes to photography.

Status? I'm suppose to have a status as a photographer? Hmmm...I am in a constant state of flux. I've enjoyed reading the replies. You guys are all too modest.

I am not,
Everyone here has something that they can teach.
And we can all learn something, so both a Teacher and a Student can be used by anyone here.

I chose Advanced Amateur. I have been at it for 60+ years so I must have absorbed something.
However, I am always learning something new - or old so I must really be a Novice.

I guess I'd consider myself Advance amateur moving toward Semi-Pro. Photography is now about 35% of my income. So technically that's what the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada ) consider Semi Pro. Pro is considered anyone who makes more than 51% of their income with a camera.

Doesn't say anything about the quality of the work though and in that area, I'm somewhere between Novice and Amateur.

I chose amatuer. I have been shooting for 40+ years and maybe an "advanced amatuer" but my experience is limited to certain things which I do a lot like sports which I have shot for years with my three daughters and now have grandkids. I don't even own a flash so I wouldn't begin to know how to use it. I have used my on camera flash a few times for fill light shooting pics of friends in shady areas and set the camera in full auto mode when I do. The digital camera, without the expense of film and developing, has freed me up somewhat and I shoot a lot of stuff now I never did with film so i'm "sometimes advanced, sometimes novice learning amatuer"
