Not that I think it matters. I can稚 take the snark, criticism, misinformation, negative opinion, whinging and general self-centered garbage posting anymore. Enjoy your virtue signaling and Brand bashing.

I値l post Feedback on any purchases in the pipeline and read about the new gear on Imaging Resource.

When the flaming stops someone please PM. I値l get an email.
What happened? You been putting up with this place since 08...

Sorry to hear that. I have been on forums where you had to wear kevlar and I had to move on. This one is relatively pleasant. Hope you come back quickly. You are one of the mainstays here.

Good luck,

JB

@monochrome Having been around BBS systems since the 80s I find the best way to handle the snark overload is to walk away for a period of time. Which I hope is what you are doing. To lose you as a contributing member to the PF community would be a great loss indeed.

If there were a follow function (anti-boriscletoed?) you would certainly be one of the posters I would follow.

Well wishes, my friend.

I'm sure being a mod is being in the center of snarkishness by nature of the job. Perhaps being a normal member without the overhead would help.

Avoid the problem threads, and follow the fun threads like the joke thread, caption contest, and celebrity graves :-) Besides those three, I also post in the "What lens to take to...?" threads (the answer is always the 12-24) and occasional PYP input if I have something decent to share.

But, maybe you truly have had enough, so bye bye and good luck.

He's not a moderator, SpecialK.

He's like many of us members, sick of seeing negative posts.

Well here's another negative post.

No!

It's not permitted.

You're needed here.

It's a great shame if we lose such a valuable member as Monochrome because of an unpleasant, unhelpful, negative or antisocial minority. Be assured that that's not the culture most of us want or value.

The other PF, the one I want to be part of, is the one that has genuinely mourned Rupert and celebrated his contributions.

It's the one that provides courteous and patient responses to newbies who don't frame a question well. Even when it's the 15th time the same question has been asked.

It's the one that has a wealth of knowledge and experience about all kinds of arcane things, photographic and otherwise, and is generous in sharing it.

It's the one where people post images that teach us something, that inspire and entertain and amuse.

It's contrary, and original, and funny. Sometimes confronting and challenging.

It has a great founder and administrator, and a team of dedicated and diplomatic moderators.

It's welcoming to a diverse world of members, united by passion about photography in its many aspects.

This thread tells me many of us share the same view about the PF culture.

Yes, it does feel like a slum district at times, Savoche.

Wish people were as energetic posting their own photos and looking at the pictures taken by their fellow members.

Nothing sadder than some desk bound gearhead, IMHO.

Indeed. In the photo sharing sections people are generally very helpful and supportive. I guess people get happier by actually using their gear than by fretting over what they might not be able to do if they went out to try.
